Motorcycle Training and the Law
Before you can ride a motorcycle on the road you must comply with certain legal requirements
Compulsory Basic Training (CBT)
All provisional licence holders ( i.e those displaying 'L' plates ) must take a CBT course before riding a moped or motorcycle on the road.
The CBT certificate (DL196) is valid for two years from the date of issue. Should the certificate expire, the CBT course must be re-taken unless, of course, you have passed your full moped or motorcycle test.
Theory Test
You will have to take and pass a Theory Test before you can book a Mod 1 or MOD 2 course.
A Theory Test can be booked by ringing 0300 200 1122 quoting your Credit Card and Driving Licence Number.
Alternatively, you can go online at the Direct Gov website
